Point of no Return
Texas Hold ‘Em online poker tournaments start with a fixed amount of casino chips, and the players cannot buy anymore. Even rebuy format tournaments reach a point when no more chips can be purchased to reinforce a player’s stack. Once the stack is established, each player has to use those chips prudently and with purpose.
At some time during the poker online tournament, a player will face a big decision about how many chips to commit to the pot. Basically, this is a point of no return. It is a big investment that can make or break a player’s tournament once the chips are pushed to the middle.
If you are drawing to the nut flush or an open-ended straight, or have a set with two cards to come, think before you call a big bet or put in a raise. Are you going to marry this hand and stick it out the end? Choosing to put so many chips into the pot so that you only have a few more blinds left means you are pot committed for the rest of your chips if you are raised. If you hold a made hand that can still be beat, or have many outs to the draw, think carefully before crossing the point of no return with your chips.
